Public Radio without the Pledge Drive

As you've surely noticed, Satirium has no advertisements other than a few discreet Google ads. Nothing winks or blinks or races around or pops up, trying to sell you something. Obviously, there's no subscription charge, no members only section accessible for a fee. While the cost of software and web hosting services and the other expenses of running a web site like Satirium are not trivial, the big cost is time. I write for a living. Time is money. While the Internet has the potential to make every person a publisher, the professional writer ultimately has to be paid for his or her services. So, borrowing from the public broadcasting model, would you consider making a donation? You won't get a free coffee mug or tote bag or golf umbrella. And Satirium is not a non-profit, so there's no tax deduction. But a contribution will help keep Satirium a going concern. How big a donation? You be the judge. What is Satirium worth to you? Is it worth 25 cents a week? That's $13 a year. A dollar a week is $52 a year, which is the typical pledge to a public radio station.

A click on the "Make a Donation" icon above will take you to the secure PayPal web site where you can make a donation using a major credit card or through a PayPal account, which is easy to open if you don't already have one. (In case you're wondering, PayPal will keep 2.2% of your donation, plus a flat 30-cent additional charge.)

Whether you donate or not, we hope you continue to find Satirium funny, satirical and thought provoking. Come back often.
