Once More, Win One for the Gipper

News Item:
Mark Souder, a Republican congressman from Indiana, has written his colleagues in the House of Representatives asking that they support legislation to remove the face of President Roosevelt from the dime and replace it with the face of President Reagan.

There are many reasons why Franklin Delano Roosevelt should be removed from the dime:

Roosevelt smoked cigarettes using a cigarette holder.

He often wore a cape.

He came from New York.

He went to Harvard.

He spoke with a patrician accent.

He used three names instead of first name, middle initial, last name.

Eleanor, his wife, had an overbite.

He was a cripple with paralyzed legs and used crutches.

Roosevelt's photogenic face cut a handsome profile.

An incurable optimist, he told the nation the only thing it had to fear was fear itself.

Roosevelt was a Democrat who was elected President four times, defeating a different Republican each time.
